Founded in the late 1960s in the U.S., Rocky Mountain Featherbed became known for creating down vests with leather yoke panels, originally designed for cowboys. The concept drew inspiration from the leather capes worn by Native Americans. By 1974, the brand adopted cutting-edge materials like Gore-Tex, gaining a reputation for down vests that matched the warmth of featherbeds. The brand eventually went silent in the late 1980s.
In 2005, after two decades of collecting and studying Rocky Mountain Featherbed garments, Japan’s 35 Summers Co., Ltd. successfully revived and improved upon the brand’s original products. To this day, they continue producing exceptional down outerwear that preserves the brand’s authentic heritage while incorporating modern sensibilities, embodying timeless value.
