Rocky Mountain Featherbed – Heritage Downwear Since the Late 1960s
Originally founded in the late 1960s in the U.S., Rocky Mountain Featherbed became known for its signature down vests featuring leather yoke panels, inspired by Native American leather capes. In 1974, the brand pioneered the use of Gore-Tex, a then-cutting-edge high-performance material, to produce vests that rivaled the insulation of featherbeds. By the late 1980s, the brand faded from the spotlight.
In 2005, after more than 20 years of dedicated collecting and study, Japan’s 35 Summers Co., Ltd. acquired the rights to the Rocky Mountain Featherbed name and trademarks. Since then, they have faithfully revived and improved upon the original products, preserving the brand’s heritage while infusing it with modern sensibilities to deliver timeless outerwear for today's wearers.
